Below you will find the PTR patch 3.3.5 notes. Please bear in mind these changes are not exhaustive and are subject to revision at any time during the 3.3.3 testing phase. When these notes are updated, we will attempt to highlight any sections that have been added or altered in this post for your reference. Please note that, due to the manner in which test realm patch updates are applied, some of the changes reflected in the PTR notes may not appear until the next test build is released.

General

• The Ruby Sanctum, an all-new 10- and 25-player raid featuring normal and Heroic difficulties, is now available for testing! Players will find the dungeon entrance below Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight.
• Copied Test Realm characters are not copied with their achievement history in order to better facilitate the character copy process.

User Interface

• Chat Frame
  • Players can now right-click on any chat type (Whisper, Trade, General, Party, Raid, etc.) and choose the Pop Out Chat option. This will move that chat type to a separate tab in the Chat frame which can be undocked and moved anywhere on the screen.
    • Using the Pop Out Chat option on a Whisper will place the conversation with that player in a separate tab.
    • Any time a conversation with another player is put into its own tab, the tab will glow when a new message is received.
  • Hovering over the Chat Frame and using the mouse wheel will allow players to scroll through chat text.
  • Players can select Classic Mode under Interface Options to keep the Chat Frame functionality closer to what it was prior to patch 3.3.5.
  • The Simple Chat User Interface option has been removed.
• Friends List
  • A new icon has been added to the top left of the Chat Frame which will open up the Friends list.
  • In addition to its current functionality, the Friends List will now allow players to add Battle.net accounts (Real ID). Players will have to confirm that they are friends in order for a Real ID to be added. Once Real ID friends, players can communicate cross-game, cross-faction and cross-realm.
  • A new Pending tab has been added where players can accept or decline a Real ID friend request, or select the Report Spam or Block Communications buttons.
  • Players can now select from three statuses which will be visible to their friends: Available, Away and Busy.
  • A Broadcast window has been added to the top of the frame. Players can use this to broadcast a message to all of their Real ID friends online. This message will also be displayed under the broadcaster’s Real ID information in each friend’s list.

Shadowmourne – Legendary Axe

The end of the PTR is near and it’s time for a new preview of Shadowmourne, mostly to give you a much more interesting video of the weapon.

The first quest is given by Darion Mograine in the Icecrown Citadel, the only prerequisite is to be friendly with the Ashen Verdict. Of course it’s not that simple and the very first quest will require you to obtain Primordial Saronite x 25 along with quest items from Festergut and Rotface. Primordial Saronite is the new rare reagent from raid bosses (The new Crusader’s Orb basically) and it won’t be easy to get 25 of them …

The Sacred and the Corrupt
It is against my judgment that I present you this errand, <race>, as it will likely end in your undoing. Ignore my counsel and embark on the endeavor, and I shall provide you with the knowledge and resources to see it through.

You must return to Frostmourne Cavern and recover Light’s Vengeance, Arthas’ discarded hammer. Reforged with saronite and etched with the acidic blood of the Lich King’s abominations, it will provide the foundation for our work.

Unholy Infusion
Before your weapon can reach its full potential it must be endowed with its signature powers. First among them is unholiness. You must seek out and defeat the one called Professor Putricide, but his death is not your only goal. You must use his resources against him.

Find a way to absorb his mutated slime. Use the foul substance to infuse your weapon with the power of the unholy. Only when this has been done shall I reveal your next task.

Blood Infusion
Your weapon is now prepared to be endowed with the power of blood. You are to face Queen Lana’thel in battle and bathe the axe in her Blood Mirror power. When it has been fully infused, you must slay her unmercifully.

May her screams pierce the ears of the Lich King as he awaits his fate.

Frost Infusion
Shadow’s Edge is prepared to receive its final infusion of power. Sindragosa, the enemy’s own mount, must fall. But before she is brought down, you must sustain three of her frozen breath attacks without tasting death.

Without his dragon, nothing shall stand between you and the Lich King.

The Splintered Throne
The Lich King’s throne once served as his prison. Kil’jaeden himself crafted the vessel of icy crystals from the twisting nether. Its sole purpose was to hold Ner’zhul’s vengeful spirit. When Arthas struck the crystal with Frostmourne, he released Ner’zhul’s soul, allowing it to merge with with his own. Splinters from that impact are now scattered throughout the citadel.

I shall require those shards, held only by the Lich King’s most powerful servants, to seal the power contained in your blade.

A Feast of Souls
Shadow’s Edge is among the greatest weapons a <class> could hope to obtain. Is your lust for power sated, <race>? <You feel Mograine’s penetrating gaze.>

I thought not. A final warning then… You now embark on the most treacherous leg of your quest. Bridle your aspirations, for if your aims are impure then your life, your very soul, is forfeit.

The weapon you hold is but an empty husk, a mere shadow of what it may become. Only the devouring of a thousand souls will unlock its true potential.

The Lich King’s Last Stand
Shadowmourne; a newly forged weapon already steeped in this world’s history, reborn into an unrivaled destiny. With this weapon you bear a solemn responsibility, and the time to carry out that charge is at hand.

Take this weapon of myth and legend and march on the enemy. Avenge the countless heroes lost in his merciless campaign. Bring rest to their tortured souls.

Steel yourself, <class>, and guide Shadowmourne to fulfill the purpose of its creation.

Highlord Darion Mograine wants you to bring him Shadow’s Edge.

The last quest isn’t fully implemented yet but already rewards you with Shadowmourne … Keep in mind that you will have to defeat Sindragosa to claim the weapon and it will take months before the encounter is unlocked on live servers.

Only normal difficulties will be tested, although 10 and 25 player raids will be available.

The Icecrown Citadel raid test schedule will be very flexible, and can change at a moment’s notice due to build status, bugs, and server issues. Remember that this is the test server, so things can, do, and will break from time to time. Check this forum for the latest Icecrown Citadel raid testing schedule information in the weeks to come.

1. Go to World of Warcraft Community Site
2. On the left side of the page, click on Account Management.
3. Log in, if prompted.
4. Accept the Terms of Use Agreement, if prompted.
5. Choose your game account to manage, if prompted (you will only see this if you have multiple WoW accounts merged with a single BNet account)
6. Log in to BNet, if prompted.
7. Look for a link titled PTR Character Copy (should be in the middle column of the page under Free Services). Click it.
8. Choose a WoW account, if prompted. (You will only see this if you have multiple WoW accounts merged with a single BNet account)
9. Choose to either Copy Your Character (if you want to use your own) or Copy Premade Character (if you want a max level character with high level raid dungeon equipment).
10. Choose one of the available characters by clicking Copy Character next to the one you want.
11. Choose the realm you want to copy the character to. (As of this guide, Anasterian (PvP) and Broxigar (PvE) are available).
12. Click the Continue button.
13. Read the disclaimers and click Yes, Copy Me!
14. At this point you may see a Character Copy Successful! message. From here you can copy another character or finish. If you don’t see this message, you’re probably in a queue to have your character copied over.
15. If you click Finish, you will be taken to a page where you can download the client.
16. Choose PC or Mac for your download.
17. Save the install program to your drive and run it.
18. Incomplete/Unconfirmed: I haven’t verified the following, so if someone wants to do some leg work and add a reply with the next steps, I’ll update this guide.
    • Install the PTR version (I’m guessing to a folder separate from your normal WoW installation).
    • When setup is complete, run the PTR version of WoW and log in.
    • If you have recently changed your password on your account, you might have to use the old password.
